Keeping Up with
the Needs of Society

Perry Fung

Director, UK Branch

In the post-pandemic new normal, the CCHC UK Branch continues its dedication to providing practical information through the Herald Monthly, and has added a number of columns. For instance, a new column titled “BNO” has been introduced to address the needs of the influx of new Hong Kong immigrants to the UK. This column covers a broad spectrum of topics, including education (incl. special education), employment, healthcare, welfare, real estate, property surveying, and financial management. It also features articles on parenting, physical and mental health, counseling, and legal matters, addressing the urgent needs of today’s society.

In addition, the UK Branch also worked closely with different organizations this year. We have continued our collaboration with “Streams of Praise” to co-organize a music evangelism event in London and partnered with the Christian organization “7000 Worshippers” to co-host the Worship Song Composition Competition 2024. Moreover, we have shared resources with the global CCHC family, including inviting The Heralders from Southern California to hold a tour of music evangelism events in the UK in September. In October, we co-organized two performances of the “Stream of Praise” concert in London, which yielded fruitful results.

Reflecting on the past two years, one of the most touching moments has been the testimonies of the three members of The Heralders: one single mother, struggling to raise two sons in this unfamiliar country, finally happy to see her eldest son get married last year; a singer and her family of four, who moved to the UK by faith and experienced abundant grace; and the team leader, who suffered from panic attack over a decade ago and still struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder and severe depression due to congenital hormonal imbalance, and despite his long-term illness, was determined to serve God through music.

Similarly, I experienced a severe brain surgery 10 years ago, which led to long-term illness due to side effects. I am grateful for God’s grace, allowing me to continue serving diligently in CCHC, striving to love the Lord, and hoping to be a good testimony as a vessel to glorify God and bless others. This is my heartfelt desire!
