To Overcome, Transcend and Excel

36年,是我人生的一半光陰。加入「角聲」後夙夜憂勤,卻不以為苦,因為是服事主耶穌。我在「角聲」的起點,是《號角月報》主編。但長久以來,因「角聲」人手短缺,我就成了百搭同工;除了《號角》以外,人事部、文化藝術、怡康中心、課後補習、兒童佈道、大型活動宣傳、全球事工拓展……只要「角聲」有需要,就即時補位。

這樣說,並非褒揚自己多麼能幹,而是想告訴所有事奉主的人,「我們有這寶貝放在瓦器裡」;「我靠著那加給我力量的,凡事都能做」。在首席總幹事盼望「角聲」成為一個學習團體時,這樣的認知十分重要。我們面對這個瞬息萬變的時代,需要不斷學習、不斷創新,才能追得上時代的需要,更有效地服務社區、傳揚福音。我期望「角聲」的同工:

Thirty-six years – that’s half of my life. Since joining CCHC, I have worked tirelessly day and night, yet I do not find it burdensome because it is for serving the Lord Jesus. My journey with CCHC began as an editor of the Herald Monthly. However, due to a long-standing shortage of manpower, I have become a versatile worker. Beyond the Herald Monthly, I filled in wherever needed – in the Human Resources Department, in cultural and artistic programs, at the Yee Hong Senior Center, in after-school tutoring, children’s evangelism, large-scale event promotion, global ministry expansion, and more.

I’m not saying this to praise my abilities, but rather to remind everyone who serves the Lord that “we have this treasure in jars of clay”; “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” This understanding is crucial as the Chief Executive envisions CCHC to become a learning community. We live in a rapidly changing era, and we must keep learning and innovating to meet the needs of our time, serve the community more effectively, and spread the Gospel. I hope that the coworkers of CCHC will learn to grow in the following areas:

(1) 跨越 Overcome

「事奉並不浪漫」,而是會遇到很多困難。有些是環境造成的,有些是人事問題,還有長期的經費匱乏……但我們不要被艱難圍困,以至心靈受創、意志消沉。

主所賜的「信、望、愛」,是幫助我們跨越困難的良方。「信」,讓我們知道每次的挫敗,都是化了妝的祝福。「望」,讓我們在任何境況,都不灰心失望,有勇氣跨越困境。「愛」,愛神愛人的心,是事奉主的定力和動力;殷勤操練「基本功」(藉讀經禱告與神結連),是維護「當初愛心」最滋補的營養。

“Serving is not romantic”; rather, it involves many challenges. Some challenges come from circumstances, others from interpersonal issues, and there’s always the issue of long-term funding shortages. Yet, we must not be trapped by difficulties, leading to wounded spirits or a lack of motivation.

The “faith, hope, and love” that the Lord grants us are the best remedies for overcoming difficulties. “Faith” lets us recognize that every setback is a blessing in disguise. “Hope” helps us to remain courageous and not lose heart in any situation. “Love” – love for God and for people – is both the steadfastness and motivation for serving the Lord. Diligently practicing the “basics” (connecting with God through Bible reading and prayer) is the most nourishing way to maintain that “first love.”

(2) 超越 Transcend

社會上的工作,分出很多專業或職業「板塊」。事奉主的工作,卻必須超越和創新,以至縱橫板塊、能人所不能。像使徒保羅一樣,「對什麼樣的人,我就作什麼樣的人。無論如何我總要救一些人」(《哥林多前書》九章22節)。若一成不變,執著「我只能這樣」的心態,就會形成事奉的桎梏,只能在有限的空間裡閒散度日。

若要更有效地事奉主,就要超越自己的「舒適區」,超越自己的能力範圍,「心意更新而變化」,按著神的帶領,學習更多知識和技能,擴闊事奉的境界,帶領更多人信主。

In society, work is divided into many specialized or professional “sectors.” However, serving the Lord requires us to transcend and innovate, cutting across these sectors to do what others cannot. Just like the Apostle Paul, who said, “To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some” (1 Corinthians 9:22). If we remain stagnant, adhering to a “this is all I can do” mindset, we create shackles for our service, leading only to idleness within limited space.

To serve the Lord more effectively, we must step out of our “comfort zones,” go beyond our current capabilities, and renew our minds. We should learn more knowledge and skills according to God’s guidance, expand our ministry’s boundaries, and lead more people to faith.

(3) 卓越 Excel

「卓越」,是指超乎水準的傑出表現。對事奉有熱情的人,不會墨守成規、滿足現狀,庸庸碌碌地過日子。而是願意費盡心思,把主所託付的事工,做到完善臻美、有聲有色;成為鹽光,對社會產生影響力。這需要準確的事工定位、精密的計劃,然後努力不懈,提升事奉的高度,優化事工的質素,才能鶴立雞群、榮神益人!

「為主卓越」,絕對不只是「角聲」的年度口號,而是必須實踐的目標。要全體同工「跨越」、「超越」才能達到「卓越」。願以此文,與「角聲」同工及全球基督徒共勉!

“Excellence” refers to an extraordinary level of performance. People who are passionate about serving the Lord will not stick to the status quo, living mediocre lives. Instead, they will make every effort to accomplish the entrusted ministry in a perfect, vibrant, and impactful manner – becoming salt and light and influencing society. This requires accurate ministry positioning, meticulous planning, and relentless effort to elevate the standard of service and improve its quality to stand out and glorify God.

“Excellence for the Lord” is not just the annual slogan of CCHC, but a goal that must be realized. It requires all coworkers to “overcome” and “transcend” to achieve “excellence.” May this text encourage the coworkers of CCHC and Christians worldwide!
