Children Become Gospel Soldiers in Missions
The CCHC European ministry is a collective of dedicated volunteers. Its work includes publishing the European edition of the Herald Monthly, organizing children’s evangelism events, and partnering with COCM (Chinese Overseas Christian Mission) and CCOWE (Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelism) Europe to host the “European Church Pastors and Leaders Consultation Conference,” among other activities. After the pandemic, CCHC has relaunched its European ministry, resuming the annual short-term mission trips to Paris to organize the “Happy English/Chinese Learning” children’s evangelism activities. This event, held in different churches, attracts over 300 children each year, with more than 90% accepting Christ — a highly effective evangelistic ministry.
However, we miscalculated. Due to the border closures during the pandemic, many people rushed back home to visit their parents or went on family vacations after the reopening, resulting in a significant shortage of short-term missionaries. In Paris, four churches co-hosted the summer children’s evangelism activities with CCHC, attracting over 300 children, but there were only seven short-term mission teachers available. What could be done? The project leader had no choice but to “step up to the plate,” serving as both the team leader and teacher, covering all areas, including worship and praise, games, Bible stories, English and Chinese lessons, and creative crafts.
When we prayed earnestly to God concerning the lack of personnel, a wonderful surprise happened! The children we taught in the past had grown up, and many are now serving in their church’s Sunday school. Some of them joined the short-term mission team, solving our staffing shortage. While they had been nurtured by us, they not only continued our legacy but even surpassed us, teaching better than we ever did! Seeing the children we once taught grow up to become “little soldiers” for the Lord brings us immense joy and satisfaction!
