Through different environments, people, and events, God has enabled the New York Herald Cancer Association not only to serve the needs of Chinese cancer patients in the New York area but also to increasingly assist patients from other states. Using the online Zoom platform, we have jointly organized seminars with the Cancer Association of the California branch. In May of this year, we hosted a large in-person event—the Pink Ribbon Conference. The three-day seminar had over 300 participants.
Our visitation team has always been dedicated to visiting cancer patients. Through connections with brothers and sisters from various churches, we were able to reach out during last year’s Christmas season to dozens of patients and their families who we had not seen for a long time, re-establishing relationships with them. We thank and praise the Lord for His guidance and the cooperation of all our volunteers.
Ten years ago , two cancer patients from the patient support group in Chinatown became my good friends. One of them, an elderly cancer survivor who had battled three types of cancer with great resilience, came to faith in the Lord, was baptized, and joined the Brooklyn Chinese Church through the care of our team.
We are grateful for God’s guidance and grace! It allowed the Cancer Association to serve another patient and their family, whom we had known for only a week. We were able to offer a prayer of commitment, a sprinkling baptism, a memorial service with an online live broadcast, during which we shared the Gospel with the family members back in China.
We believe that God has a unique plan for everyone. We are thankful that we can respond to God’s call, seeking, accompanying, guiding, and shepherding others, allowing the truth that “all things work together for good” to be alive among us. Praise Jesus!
